First I must say - this game need realy regular service pack. In my opinion todays version of this game is only renamed beta version. There was 2 patches, they were both fail - didnt fix anything pretty much. I tested this game last two days and it seem game code is absolutely not optimized.
Tested on the same machine but with different operating system:
1. Windows 7 64bit - disaster. Permanent stuttering, periodically freezing for 2 - 3 seconds
2. Windows 7 32bit - much better but still not good.
3 Windows XP 32bit SP3 - mostly smoot, random stuttering but only for a little moment.
Before I bought this game I played Skidrow's cracked version with his "service pack" - singleplayer and fake multiplayer with bots too - on Windows 7 64bit - and I had no real problem, sometimes soft stuttering but still playable without bad feel. WTF CoDBO developers did with this final version?
OK. Now I have two hard drives with differetn operating system. CoD BO is on Windows XP SP3 - only way for me how playing this game.
I read many suggestions on internet how solve problems with CoD BO but complex solution does not exist. Some things can help but only partialy.
What really works:
(changes in config_mp.cfg - ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players\)
seta cg_drawFPS "Off"-set it to "1" - you will see ingame FPS
seta r_multiGpu "1" -should be set to "0" if you have one video card.
seta r_multithreaded_device "0" -should be set to "1" if you have a multicore CPU (eg. core duo/quad core)
seta cl_maxpackets "30" -set it to "100"
seta snaps "20" -set it to "30"
seta com_maxfps "85" -set it to "120"
(keep in mind you must disable vsync /Sync every frame/ in your ingame graphic option because vsync synchronize FPS with your monitor refresh rate, so if you have 60Hz monitor your FPS will max 60) I tried set maxfps to 250 but some servers kick me for it.
seta snd_khz "44" -set it to 48 if your sound card support this frequency - sound will really much better
seta sys_sysMB "1024" -set it to "2048" - only if you have more than 3GB of operation memory
Thats all for now. I'll type here all news if I find any.
Oh, one thing Made In Microsoft for now:
1. Go to Start\Run and type msconfig - ENTER
2. After msconfig start go Boot
3. Go Advanced options
4. Check Number of processors and select real number of procesor cores
5. Click Ok
6. Click Ok
7. Restart your computer
