Now is the time.
As many have requested, eXcaliTrone V3 starts its planned release early, with a BETA version.
As the name BETA implies, is this not yet the FINAL version.
Therefore please read the following information carefully!!
Please note that installation is at your own risk. Please review the license in the download folder.
To limit the amount of cheating that can be achieved by common methods, EXcaliTrone supports only the "original" Far Cry installation:
-Playercfg.lua will not be allowed
-SystemCfgOverride.cfg not supported
-No additional .pak in the FCData file
-All pak in the FCData file must be the original size
-No "SCRIPTS" folder is allowed in the Far Cry root directory
-In the BIN32 folder only "original" dlls in amount and size are allowed.
If you try and use XT with non standard configurations you will see an error screen like these and Far Cry will close.
If you try to use CVARs unfairly, you will find it hard to play…
eXcaliTrone V3 BETA RC1 supports Far Cry Multiplayer only in conjunction with the Patch 1.4.
The BETA version does not come with an installer.
In the download however are all files that are necessary for installation, including the eXcaliTrone Launcher.
The eXcaliTrone Launcher requires .net Framework 2
Please download and install .net Framework 2 from here:
If you don’t install .net Framework 2, you will get the following error message
Once your .net Framework 2 is installed, then download the client version:
Extract/Unzip the files and open the file "client"
In this folder you will find the folder "Far Cry".
Copy the contents of that “Far Cry” folder into the “Far Cry” folder of your Far Cry installation.
You can now open the "XT-Launcher" folder that you have pasted into your normal Far Cry directory. By right clicking on the XT-Launcher.exe, you can select "send to desktop" this will create a shortcut for XT on the desktop.
First run with the XT Launcher
*Note1: eXcaliTrone is an extension of Far Cry, however to prevent unfair advantages, it is not possible to join a non-eXcaliTrone server when you launch Far Cry in the eXcaliTrone mode.
*Note2: For player, who use a Multicore-processor, please associate the XT-launcher.exe with the same core as your FarCry.exe
Start the XT Launcher the shortcut you have just created.
You are requested to indicate the path of the Far Cry installation. The Launcher will not accept the path, until the correct file was indicated. With "OK" confirm.
The XT Icon now launches in your System Tray, in the bottom right corner of the monitor (Next to the clock).
If you now right click the XT Icon, then the following different functions are indicated you.
- Play: Here you can launch either normal (1.4) Far Cry or Far Cry XTV3.
- Settings: Here can review or change your -path and or login information*
- EXIT: here can exit and close the Launcher
*Please note that these are stored locally and are used as a switch for the command line in a similar way to when you edit the short cut for Far Cry for auto login to the gameservers.
Use of the login field is not mandatory, you can continue to manually enter it.
These fields are not read or distributed by any XT software.
When you launch the game, as the XT Launcher calls the FarCry.exe, you allow the Launcher through your firewall. Here is an example of this from Sygate:
For further information of XT features and functions please read the eXcaliTrone FAQ!
User and Admin panel
With eXcaliTrone V3, all functions are available you out of XTV2. Press F3 to open
the User panel. Here you will find additional V3 functions.
TK/forgive-punish - only activated if enabled on the server
Press F2 to that open the in game Admin panels.
The Admin panel is only active if you have entered the details through the main menu.
The XT Map Updater can be found in the main menu and allows you to download refresh your database then download missing maps outside of the game.
To use the map updater, first having clicked Map updater in the main menu, on the left side of the new screen select a download server that is closest to you.
Currently there are 3 download servers available, more to follow!
GERMANY – sponsored by + SG + Nomaxx
UK - sponsored by www.gameconnectors.com
USA - sponsored by – www.farcry-maps.com
In XT V3, this function is also automated in game if you don’t have the map that a server is playing or changing to. If the Map is not available in the Mapupdater, (We have 7GB of maps, but we don’t have them all!) please wait a minute until try to join another server. The XT Far Cry server you were on or tried to join needs approximately 1 minute you to release your CD Key.
Trying to join inside a minute will still result in the infamous "Invalid CD Key/CD Key In Use” responses.
New Gametype Capture the Flag (CTF)
Well known from other game formats, the aim of the CTF Game type is to take the enemy flag back to your base, while preventing the enemy from capturing your flag. The flag is automatically picked up on contact and with the key "M" you can drop it for a team mate to pick up.
You recognize CTF Maps from the map name which is in the format ctf_mapname.
To be able to play CTF, both client and server must have XTV3 installed.
XT Maps are an expansion of Far Cry MP. Again you can only play XT maps if running XTV3 on both server and client.
What are XT Maps?
Through a new entities different map options are available. You can utilise custom vehicles, MP physics, MP Trigger and Teleporters in Far Cry Multiplayer.
Following Maps can download from here or through the integrated Map Updater.
XT V3 BETA has been extensively tested. However, problems and bugs are sure to be encountered. Please utilise this thread to provide feedback, with a short description of the problem you had.
One well known problem in the BETA, occasionally the system will hang screen hang. Solution: wait around 15 seconds then press "ESC", when the screen changes, press disconnect. Alternatively, at this point you can enter "\reconnect" in the console
XT V3is not yet finished.
All players within the community have the possibility to influence its final form, either through playtest, through bug reporting, or through new ideas for inclusion!
By the way, XT is our hobby, we don’t force any player to use it, but hope that the community will enjoy it. We constructed XT because we had the possibilities to make more of Far Cry.
Have great fun playing!
your XT team
*Final note to all Alpha testers, please remove All trace of the testing from your FC installation before you install the BETA, thanks!
@ (aXe): plz use this topic to report bugs, failures or other things you run into while playing at MindCrimE or servers from other clans.
